Edit: I also ran out of yellow on the final bookmark and ended up with nearly a full skein of several of the greens. The amount of thread given needs reviewing in my opinion.Would have given five stars as it's a great beginner's kit with some excellent designs and very easy to follow with everything colour coded. Comes with plenty of spare needles, a threader that does the job fine and a nice range of good quality cotton thread - or floss - in lovely bright colours.The trouble is, every single pattern uses black. I happened to choose the pattern that uses the most black and I've nearly run out. No way do I have enough to do the rest of the bookmarks.Quality control also needs to be better as in the kit I received, not a single pattern was cut within the blue lines around the edges and they are very uneven. I'm going to have to trim the edges to neaten them up and it means some of the patterns are now too narrow for the backings.All in all, a lovely kit for the price - but needs the quality control to be better.

I was disappointed that there were not enough of the threads to finish at least one of the bookmarks. (I was splitting them into two strands). I will now have to purchase more to do so.

This is perfect for beginners as there is everything needed to start immediately and no need to count the stitches, it is like colour by numbers with cross stitch.There is a colour chart enclosed and from this you select the correct embroidery cottons to use on any given bookmark. Once you have completed the bookmark and the design is covered in stitches, the bookmark can be washed in cold water, to dissolve the dye and leave behind clean stitches.I did an experiment for the purposes of this review. As the ram skull design is my least favourite, I decided to use this to test how the water soluble ink would affect the colour of the embroidery cottons. I was a bit concerned that due to the high proportion of dark ink in the background, that the finished stitches would be dulled down once the fabric was washed in cold water. I also found that the dark colour was transferring onto my fingers as I was stitching and it made me wonder how the pale and white coloured threads would fair in the wash. After all, cross stitch is a labour of love, not a quick process and I didn’t want to ruin hours of work in 3 minutes.The results are reassuring. The background ink didn’t wash out entirely but the green and cream stitches on the experimental bookmark definitely popped after the wash (see photo of before and after). The cream thread has stayed cream and I am now confident that I can stitch the other bookmarks without pre-washing the aida fabric. Even if there is colour transfer from my fingers when stitching, it will wash out and not be noticeable in the finished piece. For the price of £9.99, at the time of this review, these cross stitch bookmarks are very good value. The kit is high quality and easy to use, ideal for beginners as the projects are finished and useful, in a relatively short amount of time. I am happy to recommend them and will enjoy stitching the rest of the kit. I hope that the results of my experiment are helpful to you. 5 stars.

i love this good quality came with plenty of threat to finish all i will say it the design was a bit faded so it was hard to distinguish where one colour started and ended, also just a not if you get bored of doing one colour a lot the black was a lot to do and i got a bit bored after a while
